Abstract

Fixed-abutment type; working-fluid supply; packing vanes and the like.-In a multi-cylinder internal-combustion engine in which the pistons are flat plates which oscillate about a fixed abutment within spaces shaped as hollow wedges, the semi-rotary motion of the pistons about the apices of the wedge-shaped chambers moves links attached to cranks and thus turns the crank-shaft. Each piston is lubricated through conduits 20 which are fed with oil from a pump 16. Conduits 20 extend through spring-pressed packing pieces 18. Holes in the bearings 11 lead lubricant into the journals 12. The -engine operates on the fourstroke principle. A cam-shaft 36 is driven by the crank-shaft 2 and cams operate valve levers 41 and 46 which control exhaust valves 28 and inlet valves 27. A water cooling jacket 5 is provided.
