Shade-holders.-The shade H, Fig. 2, for an electric lamp-holder, more particularly such as is described in Specification 152,710, [Class 39 (ii), Electric lamps, Incandescent], is supported from the underside by a flange G on the lower part A<2> of the lamp-holder, and is secured by means cf a ring or nut K, adapted to bear on the top of the shade collar and having internally projecting segmental portions k' adapted to pass between and, by rotation, engage with discontinuous helical or obliquely-arranged threads M on the upper part of the lamp-holder. The flange G may be formed on the lower part A<2> or on a detachable sleeve, which fits on the lamp-holder and has inturned projections engaging in the bayonet-slots in which the lamp pins engage. The two parts A<1>, A<2> of the lamp-holder are secured together by a bayonetslot connexion, and in the absence of the shade the parts may be locked together by the nut K inverted, as shown in Fig. 9. In the case of a lamp-holder insulated to prevent accidental contact with the live parts, the shade is supported by the shoulder q<1> of an insulating-shield Q, Fig. 13, fitted to the lower part of the holder, and the securing-ring K, Fig. 12, is mounted in an insulating-cap P. The Provisional Specification states that the shade may be held in position (1) between flanges on the two parts of the lampholder by elastic means such as a rubber washer, metallic garter springs, or plate springs attached to a cut out of one flange; (2) by a ring connected by a spiral spring to the upper part of the lamp-holder; (3) by a double bow-spring fitting against abutments on the upper part of the lampholder casing and having depending portions contacting with the upper part of the shade; (4) by a ring screwed on, or having cam surfaces engaging with abutments on, the upper part of the lamp-holder.
