Abstract

342,503. Lamp shades. BENSON, A., 35, Werter Road, Putney, London. Jan. 20, 1930, No. 1940. [Class 75 (ii).] In an electric incandescent lamp holder, the usual shade-retaining ring or nut 17 is provided with one or more shade-retaining tongues 21 each of which has an enlargement which, when the ring moves away from the lamp end of the holder, extends radially from the holder and engages the inside of the lamp shade. As shown, the shade is supported by enlargements 22 on two tongues 21 on a circular wire member 20 fitting into an internal groove 19 in the nut 17. In the body 16 of the holder, grooves 12 accommodate the tongues. When the nut is in its lowest position, the tongues spring inwardly into the bayonet slots. The tongues may be pivotally attached to the carrier member. The grooves 12 form internal ridges on the body of the lamp holder to engage with the contact-holder unit within the lamp holder. The Provisional Specification describes also the formation on the lower part of the shaderetaining ring of a left-hand screw thread, upon which is screwed a locking-ring which bears against the lamp shade. Rigid levers hinged to the bent spring may be employed.
