Abstract
489,382. Electric -- battery lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and RICHARDS, S. W. Feb. 2, 1937, No. 3069. [Class 39 (ii)] In an electric torch comprising an openended rigid or substantially rigid casing 1 containing one or more cells 17, with a reflector 18 which carries the lamp holder 9 and forms a closure member secured at the open end of the casing, the lamp holder is provided with a part 13 which is adapted positively to engage the central terminal 16 of the adjacent cell in such manner that transverse relative movement between the lamp and the cell terminal is substantially prevented. The reflector 18 is provided with a neck 19 which is screw-threaded internally to engage external screw-threads on the lamp holder 9, and a lock-nut 20 is provided to maintain the latter in the set position when the filament is positioned correctly relatively to the reflector. The terminal-engaging member 13 has a screwthreaded extension sleeve 12 which houses a spring-pressed terminal 14 and is screwed into an insulating sleeve 10 held in the lower end of the lamp holder by a grub-screw 11. The rim of the reflector 18 is sheathed in rubber 22 and clamped between the end of the casing 1 and cover glass 6 when the aluminium cap 4 is screwed into position, a pivoted blade 28 being mounted on the casing to engage one of series of slots provided in the cap 4 to form a locking-device.
