292,142. National Carbon Co., Inc., (Assignees. of Bryce, C. K., and Jones, H. W.). June 15, 1927, [Convention date]. Battery lamps.-The bulbholder 27 of a torch or flashlamp is carried by a diaphragm 15 which is held on a shoulder 13 of the casing by a snap ring 16 lodged in a groove 14, the bulb-holder thus being retained in place when the reflector 19 and the lamp top 18 are removed, but being readily removable to enable a swollen battery to be forced out. A switch member S' is engageable either with a conductor 26 connected to the bulb-holder or with the holder itself. The lower end of the battery B may be held against a conducting support 12 by a spring 30 surrounding a telescopic bulb-holder, thereby enabling the bulb L to be adjusted for focusing by operating the screwed end cap 11 of the casing. A modification is described (Fig. 3, not shown) wherein the bulb-holder is immovable and the light is focused by adjusting the reflector by screwing the top cap up or down.
