Abstract

908,688. Electric battery lamps. MAK, J. March 7, 1961, No. 8221/61. Addition to 868,504. Class 39 (2). A battery operated torch comprises a casing 9 and a head 24 secured to the casing and having a bulb 41 and reflector 40, the side wall 25 of the head being of transparent material and a second bulb 18 being axially mounted on the casing so that when the head 24 is secured to the casing the bulb 18 extends into the head and light from it can shine out through the side wall 25. The casing 9 carries an insulating disc 13 supporting a contact button 14 engaging the base contact of the bulb 18 and connected by a metal strip 22 to one side of a switch 11. The shell of the bulb 18 is in contact with a threaded sleeve 17 supported by a metal plate 15 in contact with the centre pole of the battery. The head 24 has sides 25 of red transparent plastic with upper and lower rims 26, 27. The rim 26 supports a reflector 40 carrying the bulb 41, the centre contact of which engages a spring contact 30 connected by a strip 37 to a contact ring 35. A spring contact 32 connected to a contact ring 36 engages the reflector 40. The ring 35 is in contact with the shell 17 and the ring 36 with a contact ring 43 from which a strip 44 extends to one side of the switch 10. The bulbs may be operated simultaneously or independently, the switch 10 being provided with a spring-pressed button 12 by which the bulb 41 may be flashed. The bulb 18 may be of the automatically flashing type.
