A combined drinking glass holder and glassilluminating unit comprises a flat base of a circular chamber with a domed top wall of transparent material an electric battery contained in the chamber, an incandescent bulb under the centre of the dome and fed through a switch from the battery and an upstanding cylindrical cuff with its lower end portion encircling the chamber and resting on the base with its upper end portion rising above the dome to receive a drinking glass. As shown an insulating flat base 10 forms a chamber with a cylindrical wall 12, preferably in the form of a flange, supporting by its reduced flexible intumed rim 16, a transparent dome 18 having a central hole 20, to accommodate a structure supporting a lamp 34 under the centre of the dome, a battery 30 and button switch 24, the flange 12 having fitted thereover the lower end portion of a cylindrical cuff 37 to rest on the external peripheral portion of the base 10 so as to be liftable therefrom when desired. The upper end portion of the cuff rising above the dome to receive a glass 39. The lamp supporting structure comprises two clip plates 26, Fig. 4, disposed in slightly convergent relationship and secured to the base 10 by rivets 27, Fig. 2. Each plate has tongues 29 at its ends to hold the battery 30 in position and an insulated terminal clip 29b on one tongue contacts one terminal of the battery, the other terminal contacting the other tongue which tongue is provided with a hole 31 for joining the necessary current conductor thereto. The two plates 26 are coupled by an insulating bridge piece 32 mounting the lamp holder 33.
