Abstract

884,212. Electric battery lamps. SONG & CO. Ltd., V. K. Oct. 21, 1960 [Oct. 28, 1959], No. 36626/59. Class 39(2) [Also in Group XIII] An electric torch is fitted with a bulb and a three-position switch in one position of which the bulb is connected in series with a blinker device and in another of which the bulb is connected without the device. The bulb is mounted with its centre pole in contact with a stud connected to the centre pole of the battery, either in a metallic reflector which connects the shell of the bulb to the switch by way of the metallic casing of the torch or in a plastic reflector in which case a projection in contact with the shell engages an arm of the switch. In either case, the opposite end of the switch has an arm 7 which projects into a cap 10 on the base of the torch. A bimetallic strip 15 is enclosed in an evacuated bulb having a threaded base and a central pole forming the contacts of the device. The base is screwed into a metallic sleeve 16 having a contact flange 12 and the centre pole is connected by a spring 22 to a shell 21 having a contact flange 11. A spring 24 conects the shell 21 to the battery. In one "on" position, the arm 7 engages the flange 11 producing a steady light and in the other, it engages the flange 12, the strip 15 being then in circuit to produce a flashing light.
