An electric torch of the kind in which the circuit is completed through a metallic reflector in which the bulb is mounted and a metallic contact strip, the strip is in two parts 8, 10, each of which is connected to a circular or part circular contact ring 7, 9 on the torch casing, which rings can be brought into contact to complete the circuit. The lamp casing is in two parts 1, 2 carrying the rings 7, 9 and united by screw threads 3, 4 so that the rings are brought into contact by screwing the parts 1, 2 together. A sliding switch may also be provided in the contact strip 10 remote from the bulb.
