Abstract
857,051. Electric battery lamps. CHENG, W. G. June 30, 1959 [Dec. 10, 1958], No. 39842/58. Class 39(2). In an electric hand lamp having a single bulb 24 mounted in the parabolic reflector 17 detachably mounted on a flanged end cover 12 hinged to one end of the casing 10, the reflector 17 is flanged and secured to the cover 12 by a projection on the flange of the cover which overlaps the flange of the reflector, the latter having a notch to permit its passage over the projection when fitting the reflector in place. A carrying handle may be provided comprising two rods 13<SP>1</SP>, 13<SP>2</SP> of U-shape with inturned ends rotatably mounted in bearings 14<SP>1</SP>, 142 on the casing so that they can be laid against it when not in use. The inner end of the casing has an insulating disc having a central metal plate secured to the casing by a rivet passing through the disc and an annular plate surrounding the centre plate. The plates are connected by springs to the battery terminals. The annular plate is connected by a flexible lead to one side of a push button switch 39, the other side of which is connected by a flexible lead 42 to a contact 26 in a plastic socket 19, which is connected to the base contact of the bulb 24, the shell of which is connected via the reflector 17 to the casing 10 and thence to the central metal plate.
