1,070,290. Electric battery lamps. R. L. BUSTAMANTE. Nov. 13, 1964 [Nov. 19, 1963; Oct. 16, 1964], No. 46359/64. Heading F4R. A composite electric torch comprises a first assembly consisting of a battery casing, light source and switch means, and a separable assembly adapted for insertion in or removal from the casing of the first assembly and consisting of a source of electric power, a light source and a switch assembly including a plurality of contact elements, one of which is common to both the circuit of the first and the circuit of the second assembly when the second assembly is inserted in the first assembly. The main lamp consists of a casing 10 closed at one by a cap bearing by a spring on batteries and at the other end by a cap within which is a bulb and reflector. The second assembly consists of a tube 41 of insulating material closed at one end by a disc 60 bearing on one wall of the casing 10 and by a transparent cap 70 bearing on the wall at the opposite side. A reflector 75 and bulb 80 are mounted in the cap, the bulb being screwed into a collar 50 connected by metal strips 54 to a contact ring 44 on the outside of the tube 41. The base of the bulb bears on a bar 47 carried by a contact ring 46 on the outside of the tube which can be connected to the battery by a switch (not shown) on the casing via the cap and spring. The second pole of the battery and the base of the bulb of the main lamp are in contact with the ring 46, a switch 19 being provided for connecting the reflector of the main lamp to the casing. In a modification, one of the strips 54 extends into a slot in the disc 60 and is bent over to extend parallel to the casing to form a second switching means.
