Abstract

1,168,408. Electric battery lamp. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd. 4 June, 1968 [9 June, 1967 (3)], No. 26589/68. Heading F4R. [Also in Division H1] An electric battery lamp comprises a synthetic-resin casing 1 having at least one dry-cell 6 therein and a front cover 3 screw-threaded, 9, 10, on to the open end of the easing, the casing being sealed in liquid-tight fashion by an 0-ring 8 which is fitted in an annular groove 7 formed in the outer surface of the open end of the casing at a location forward of the threaded portion of the casing, the 0-ring being pressed against the casing by the inner surface of the front cover. The bulb 12 is located in a mounting 13 set in a sleeve 21 of a plate 19 which is located within the mouth 18 of a removable synthetic-resin dry-cell holder 15. A socket 29 is provided on plate 19 to accommodate a spare bulb. The electrical circuit from the dry cells is made through conductive member 27 to the switch mechanism 2 and thence through reflector 11 to bulb 12, conductive members 24 and 25 completing the circuit to the dry cells. The switch mechanism 2 is described in detail (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) and comprises a tumbler switch (34) which makes connection between two sets of conductive members (44 and 47 and 38, 43 and 49, respectively) which are otherwise insulated by insulating plates (45 and 48) (see Division H1).
