Abstract

1,242,396. Electric battery lamps. SONCA INDUSTRIES Ltd. 7 Aug., 1968 [6 Sept., 1967], No. 40839/67. Heading F4R. [Also in Division H1] An electric torch is operated by a rotary switch 36 upon relative rotation of the torch body 11 and the bulb holder part 18 of an insulating end member 16 having a boss 21 supporting a spring contact member 41, the contact member having a nose portion 43 sweeping the inside surface of an insulating ring member 17 having a boss 19 with slots 45 allowing the contact member 41 to engage the metal torch body 11, or a metal annulus on an insulating torch body, to complete the circuit to the bulb 25 from the battery 28. Boss 19 also has recesses 46 engageable by nose portion 43 to index boss 21 in boss 19 in the " off " position. Contact member 41 has arms 42, Fig. 3 (not shown), passing through openings 39 in the arms 38 of an arcuate terminal member 37 providing an integral spring tongue 31 engaging the threaded bulb terminal. Torch body 11 has a screw thread 15 engaged by the threaded surface of boss 19 of insulating ring member 17. The end of boss 21 is flared at 22 to lock the boss 21 against ring member 17 but to allow relative rotation thereof.
