Abstract

1,205,975. Electric torches. HOI YUEN MFG. CO. Ltd. 16 Sept., 1968 [26 Oct., 1967], No. 48696/67. Heading F4R. An electric torch has a switch comprising a knurled rotatable wheel 16, part of which projects from the torch casing to allow operation and part of which lies within the casing and has a projection 17 which when the wheel is rotated to operate the switch bends a brass strip 10 into contact with contact strip 7 to complete the electrical circuit from batteries 6, 14 to the bulb 5 and so switch on the torch. Rotation of the wheel in the opposite direction will then allow strips 7 and 10 to spring apart and the light will be extinguished. The body of the torch which is in the shape of a cigarette lighter is made of plastics, there being a transparent lens 21 in front of the bulb. A metal plate 23 at the base allows a current path between the batteries.
