Abstract

842,769. Battery lamps. PIFCO Ltd. Dec. 9, 1958 [Dec. 27, 1957], No. 40194/57. Class 39(2). [Also in Groups XXIII and XXXVI] A combined battery lamp, screwdriver and means for testing the continuity of an electric circuit comprises a screwdriver having a handle of insulating material incorporating a battery lamp 10 for illuminating the work, a metal contact 8 on the exterior of the handle conductively connected to one pole of the lamp battery 4, the arrangement being such that if a continuous electrical conductor or circuit is placed touching the bulb holder 9 and strip 8, the lamp will light up. A contact 6 touches the end of the battery 4 and is hinged to a metal strip 7 which is riveted through the wall of the handle to the strip 8. A metal holder 9 for a bulb 10 is secured to the handle 1 and has a flexible metal strip 11 adapted to be moved into contact with the strip 7 by a switch dolly 12. The centre contact of the bulb 10 rests on a metal strip 13 leading to the centre contact of the battery 4 so that the bulb lights up when the strip 11 touches the strip 7.
