542,553. Electric battery lamps. with switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., ELLIS, G., SAUNDERS, C. W. April 3, 1940, No. 13004/41. Divided out of 539,751. [Class 39 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A self-contained battery lamp for use on board ship consists of a water-tight casing holding the battery 25 and having attached to its end a lamp 13 enclosed in a glass cover 10. The device is normally suspended upsidedown by means of the loop 3 and the switching means is unaffected by the roll of the ship. In use, it is inverted whereupon the contact 37 slides and rotates down the threaded metal wire 23 into engagement with the contacts 35 to complete the circuit with a time-delay action. Specifications 1493/05, [Class 38], 538,088, and 539,751 are referred to.
