Abstract

A direction indicator lamp for a cyclist, and worn on the wrist like a bracelet, includes a mercury switch in addition to the normal lamp components. The lamp is similar to a conventional pocket torch, with a battery (5), bulb (2) on/off switch (6) and lens (4) mounted on a rectangular casing. The mercury switch (7) is in series with the on/off switch (6) and the base contact (12) of the bulb. The mercury switch is installed inside the case and aligned so that the bulb is illuminated when the cyslist's arm is raised, but not when his hand is resting on the handle bars. The lens is suitably orange coloured.
