Battery lamps. - In hand lamps of the kind wherein the handle, acts as a switch to light the lamp automatically when it is picked up, the handle 15 is secured at its upper end to the casing 3 so that the lamp, when picked up, can fall backwards to bring a terminal 14 connected to one pole of the battery into contact with the lower end of the handle to complete the circuit. The second pole of the battery is connected by a conductor 12 with the bulb-holder 8. To light the lamp when it is resting on a surface, a switch 18 pivoted on the terminal 14 is turned into contact with the metal casing 3, or with a screw 4 by which the casing is secured to the base 1.
