Abstract

529,572. Electric battery lamps. RODWAY, H. G. Feb. 10, 1940, No. 2587. [Class 39 (ii)] A gravity switch in association with an electric torch, to ensure that light cannot issue in an upward direction, consists of two insulating discs 11, 12, Fig. 3, spaced apart by a shaft portion in two parts 13a, 13b separated by insulation 16 and terminating in exterior contacts 14, 15. On the shaft slides a conducting collar 17 adapted when the torch is directed below the horizontal, to slide down and connect together the two parts of the shaft. The switch element is mounted in the torch between the lamp and the battery as shown in Fig. 2, between two cells of the battery or between the rear end and the battery. In a modification the sliding member engages, in the operative position, a terminal of the battery itself
