Abstract

[Class 38 (v)] [See also Group XI] An electric torch has a metal casing in two parts 1, 2, the part 2 of which is provided with an insulating liner 5 and 6, and a metal liner 7 which is connected by a spring 8 to the exposed end of a dry cell 3. A pocket clip 9 mounted in contact with the casing 2 has a ball end 10 which is normally biassed to make contact with the liner 7 through coincident apertures in the casing 2 and insulating liner 5. A sleeve 12 surrounds the casing 2-and has an aperture 13 which allows the ball 10 to contact with the liner 7. On turning the sleeve 12 the ball 10 rides up into a circular groove 14 on the sleeve and contact is broken. The movement of the sleeve, which may be rotary, rectilinear, or helical, may be limited by stops.
