Abstract
482,753. Screwdrivers. CROFT, E. C. Oct. 13, 1936, No. 27781. [Class 61 (iii)] A screwdriver handle provided with electric battery, lamp and switch enabling light to be directed along the stem of the screwdriver embedded centrally in the handle to illuminate the work comprises a metal cap B, a metal front portion B<1> to take the screwdriver A, and a central body B<2> of insulating material, the battery C<2> being retained in a hollow in the parts B, B<2> by means of a metal disc D and spring D<1>. Pressure on the finger switch D<3> causes the passage of current from the lower end of the battery through boss C<4>, metal plug C<1>, switch D3, plug D5 spring D<7> and insulated member D<6> to the lamp terminal E<1> of lamp E and thence to the metal member B<1> connected by bolts to metal cap B and so back to the other battery terminal. In a modification, Fig. 4, the handle F<1> is of synthetic resin and the current from the lower end of the battery H<2> passes through lamp terminal, lamp casing J, metal plate J<1>, contact K and metal strip H<3> back to the other battery terminal H<1>.
