Abstract

569,352. Battery lamps. BECKER-SIMMONDS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and BECKER, C. A. March 3, 1943, No. 3497. [Class 39 (ii)] An electric torch having a casing of insulating material has the body of the casing divided into two parts 10, 11 that screw together, and a metal ring 13 between the two parts permanently connected by a strip 15 to the lamp socket 18. A spring contact 19 at the base of the battery is connected by a strip 21 with a switch 14 which, in the closed position, makes contact with the ring 13. The casing carries metal bands 25, 26 in contact with the strips 21, 15 respectively that enable the battery to be depolarized without removal from the casing as described in Specification 540,810. If a focussing adjustment is provided by mounting the reflector 30 in a cap 31 having a sliding or screwing connection with the part 11 of the casing, the cap may be locked in its adjusted position by a set-screw 33.
