Abstract

901,973. Reading and like lamps. ANDREWS, G. A. H. Aug. 22, 1960 [May 21, 1959], No. 17244/59. Class 75 (4). A lamp for reading or for providing subdued lighting, e.g. for nursery use or television viewing, comprises a portable hollow casing 3 having an opaque top 4 supporting a model (not shown) and surmounted by a reading lamp, the open base of the casing housing a light source 19 for illuminating the model through a window 7 in the top and a switch 12 whereby either the reading lamp or the source 19 may be illuminated. Holes 6, 8 are provided in the top 4, through which project a tubular wiring pillar 10 for the reading lamp and the dolly 13 of the switch 12. The lamp 19, switch 12 and a socket 17 for a plug 9 on the lower end of the pillar 10 are mounted on an insulating base 16 secured to the underside of the casing.
