Abstract

897,105. Lamp standards. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. June 9, 1960 [June 29, 1959], No. 22228/59. Class 20(1) [Also in Group XVIII] A lamp post comprises three metal tubes 3, 4, 5 attached together at one end by a base member 1, and at their other end by a top fitting 2; the tubes being held apart intermediate their ends by a spacer 6; there being a recess, closed by a door, formed in the base member to accommodate electrical operating gear for a lantern carried by the post. A polythene sleeve 22 protects the base member where it enters the ground. The base member and the top fitting are each provided with three sockets to accommodate the ends of the tubes which are secured therein by phenol-aldehyde resin and clamping screws. The entire structure is preferably of aluminium. Electric leads extend from the operating gear in the base to the lantern by way of a passage formed in one of the sockets in both the base member and the top fitting.
