Abstract

549,743. Electric light fittings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and WIDNALL, F. Aug. 29, 1941, No.11032. [Class 75 (iv)] In an electric light fitting for use in an atmosphere containing explosive dust the ends of the tubular light source 10 project through gaskets 11 into dust and explosion proof casings 1. The casings are fitted with nipples 7 to receive the conduit through which flexible conductors 8 are led to the lamp 10. The bases of the casings are fitted with removable covers 5. The casings may be of simular cross-section to the reflector 2 the lower part of which is covered by a wire screen 12 or closed by toughened glass or transparent methyl-methacrylate resin. In another construction tubular end casings of smaller cross section than the reflector are connected by metal straps to a framework supporting the reflector.
