Abstract

442,114. Two-part couplings. PFAFF AKT.-GES., G. M., 140, Wittelsbacher Strasse, Kaiserslautern, Germany. May 21, 1935, No. 14861. Convention date, Dec. 6, 1934. [Class 38 (i)] A lamp holder, constructed to receive bulbs having screwthreaded caps for use as a sewing-machine light, is modified to receive soffit or festoon lamps having a cap at each end. As shown the end caps 6, 7 of the soffit lamp 1 are engaged between two metal arms 2, 3 which are mounted in position by metal brackets 11, 12 riveted thereto, the brackets being secured within the upper part of a reflector 13 by two screws 15 which secure the reflector to a body portion 10. The inner ends of the arms 2, 3 pass through an aperture 16 which would otherwise receive a screw-threaded lamp cap, and make contact with resilient strip metal contacts 8, 9, the lower end of the contact strip 9 having been straightened from its original offset position, indicated by broken lines, wherein it constituted the central contact of the screwthreaded socket.
