Abstract

221,858. Kelly, A. June 16, 1923. Mounting electric lamps in lanterns. - A self-contained emergency lighting unit for motor vehicles comprises an electric lamp bulb associated with a dry battery, constructed to be fitted directly into an existing lamp. In the form shown in Fig. 1, one end of the battery A is formed with a bayonet cap D for securing inside an ordinary headlamp. In a modification, the cylindrical battery is formed with an external screwed sleeve which may be screwed into the front of a lamp after removal of the lens bezel.
