Controlling variable-speed gearing.- In variablespeed gearing, claw clutches H are operated by striking-forks G, each co-operating with a screw of rapid pitch B. In the arrangement shown, the boss of the fork G- is formed as a nut engaging the screw B, which is mounted on a spindle A in a gear case E so as to be turned by an external lever F, while being kept from moving axially. In a modification, the nut is formed on the operating-lever, the spindle being axially-movable and carrying the screw, and having the fork secured to it. The invention is specially applicable to motor-cycles.
