666,670. Change-speed gear. JUY, L. C. H. Aug. 17, 1949 [Sept. 3, 1948], No. 21413/49. Class 80 (ii). A cycle chain is shifted laterally on to either one of a, pair of different-sized pedal-crank sprockets 16, 17 by a fork 13 carried by a spindle 1, slidable transversely in a casing 2 attached to the frame seat-pillar 3, and operated by the cranked end of a handled rotary control-shaft 14 mounted along the seat-pillar and engaging a grooved collar 6 angularly and axially adjustably secured on the spindle 1 by a set-screw 7, which passes through a casing-slot 8 and may thereby limit the travel. In Fig. 5 (not shown), the casing-walls define the extreme positions, that on the right having a screw-adjustable bush to define the rightward extreme.
