Abstract

1504274 Contacts BUNKER RAMO CORP 16 Aug 1976 [14 Aug 1975] 34034/76 Heading H2E A contact assembly comprises a contact member one end 26 of which is adapted to mate with a complementary contact member and the other end 28 of which is adapted to receive a conductor, the contact member having a collar 30 and an annular groove at the end of collar 30 closest to end 28 of the contact member, the assembly further comprising a frusto-conical clip 20 of flexible synthetic resin, the clip 20 being mounted on the contact member with an inwardly directed flange 22 at its smaller end engaging the annular groove and the smaller end abutting the collar 30. As shown, the contact member is a male member and is retained in the body 40 of a plug by insertion of the assembly into a hole 38 of the body, the clip 20 being deformed on entry and expanding into an internal space 44 to effect retention, Fig. 9. The clip may in order to improve retention have a thickened wall, in which core the wall is internally fluted, Fig. 11 (not shown) or externally fluted, Fig. 13 and Fig. 15 (not shown). A slot may be provided at the small clip end for ease of fitting of the clip on the contact member.
