Abstract

1300648 Two-part couplings C H ZAK 24 Feb 1970 [24 Feb 1969] 8711/70 Heading H2E A connector for connecting a conductor to a sparking plug terminal 12 is formed from a blank 42 of sheet steel or brass attached to carrier strips 52 by lugs 54. One end 26 of the connector is crimped on to the conductor and the other end 28 of the blank is formed as shown in Fig. 2 to fit the terminal 12. The blank of Fig. 6 is rolled so that arm 36 overlies arm 34 and arm 40 overlies arm 38, parts of the blank being bent as shown at 56, Fig. 2. Locking tabs 51 on arms 36, 40 are bent into holes 49 in arms 38, 34 as shown in Fig. 2 to limit therelative movement of the arms. A groove 50 on the connector fits a ridge 18 on the sparking plug terminal 12. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 11, 12, not shown) three pairs of overlapping arms are used the centre outer arm extending in the opposite direction to the other outer arms. In a further embodiment (Fig. 13, not shown) for connection to a socket terminal in a distributer cap the locking tabs 51 are omitted and the upper outer arm is formed with a slot for engagement with a protuberance on the socket. Alternatively the protuberance (114, Fig. 16, not shown) may be formed on the connector for the distributer cap.
