Aspirating-apparatus, injector; controlling action.-Steam issuing from the very narrow annular outlet 7<a> of an annular space 7 induces a flow of air both internally and externally. The mixture of steam and air then passes into an annular space 7<c> communicating with a pipe 21 into which live steam may also be admitted by opening a valve 14 in the central nozzle 11. A steam chamber 8<a> communicates directly with the nozzle 11 and by way of ports 8 with the annular span 7. Ports 6, 5 allow the air entering at 20 to neach the interior of the annular jet. If used for exhaust-steam heating, the valve 14 remains closed and the mixture of live steam and air is used to induce a flow of exhaust steam.
