Abstract

219,795. Atkins, A. E. July 3, 1923. Spray carburettors.- Turbulence in the entering air and more intimate mixing of the air and fuel are produced by fitting to the air inlet a casting 3 having one or more passages 4 leading tangentially to a circular chamber 5 having an outlet pipe 6 fitted to the air inlet. The inlet ends of the passages 4 may be controlled by ports 10 in a ring 9 adjustable by an arm 11. The air is directed to the inlet by a cone 8 which may be adjustable. The cone may also be hollow and traversed by air heated bv the exhaust to warm the air entering the carburettor.
