Weft-feeler arrangements.-A weft feeler is arranged to feel the bobbin from below and is actuated by two levers on the same axle, one lever carrying the feeler and the other being connected to the bobbin-inserting device. As shown, a forked weft feeler 7, Figs. 1 and 3, is carried by a lever 4, which is mounted loosely on an axle 3 on the lay at the magazine side of the loom and is connected to another lever 5 on the same axle by a rod 11 passing through a projection 12 of the lever 5 and connected to a pivot 10 on the lever 4. A spring 14 connected to the pivot 10 abuts against the projection 12, and the rod 11 is provided with a collar 13. The lever 5 is connected by a rod 15 to an arm 16 of the spool-inserting device 17, whereby, on the beat-up, the feeler is moved upwards yieldingly, and is positively withdrawn from the shuttle on the rearward movement of the lay. When the spool or bobbin 6 is sufficiently exhausted, it allows the feeler to move upwards to such an extent that a projection 8 on the lever 4 can engage and rock a lever 9, mounted upon a fixed pivot, as shown in Fig. 1, thereby causing actuation of the spool-changing mechanism, the connexion 15 thereupon withdrawing the feeler from the shuttle. A slotted plate 19 fixed to the shuttle-box tongue acts on the projection 8 and, as shown in Fig. 7, prevents the feeler from being moved upwards when the shuttle is absent from the box. The feeler may be arranged to rotate about its horizontal axis and may act as a touch or electrical feeler.
