309,687. British Northrop Loom Co., Ltd., and Hollins, D. M. March 2, 1928. Weft feeler arrangements.-A side-slip feeler c closes an electric circuit when the bobbin is substantially denuded. The feeler c is slidably mounted on a lever b pivoted at b<1> to a casing a on the breast beam, and is normally moved rearwardly by a spring c<4>. A spring h acting on a stop h<1> on the casing and on a stop lug b<4> on the lever a tends to swing the lever clockwise, but this movement is normally prevented by a stronger spring e on a rod d. The Spring acts on the casing and on an adjustable stop comprising a boss f<1> on an arm f, which has a forked part f<2> located as shown. At the beat up, the rod d is struck by a lay abutment d<2> and is moved forwardly carrying the arm f away from the abutment b<4> and leaving the spring h free to swing the lever b and move the feeler sidewise. Until the bobbin is substantially exhausted, however, the yarn thereon prevents this side slip movement, but when this movement does occur, insulated contacts i<1>, i<2> on a plate i on the lever contact with fixed contacts j<1>, j<2> whereby an electric circuit is closed and a stop motion or bobbin or shuttle changing mechanism is operated. The feeler mechanism may be mounted on the lay, in which case the rod d contacts with an abutment on the breast beam &c.
