Shuttle - relief motions.-At the end of the beat-up, a weighted lever 12, Fig. 2, freely pivoted on a bracket 1 adjustably mounted on the lay, moves by its inertia so that a projection 13 engages a jointed lever 8, whereby the part 6 is moved to the left and does not act as an abutment to the swell 16 as shown in Fig. 5. At the end of the backward stroke of the lay, the weighted lever 12 turns in a clockwise direction and allows the lever 8, 6 to again assume the normal position shown in Fig. 5 for braking the shuttle. The lever 8, 6 may assume its normal position by gravity, by the engagement of the tail 14 of the lever 12 with a bent part 9 of the lever 8, or a separate weighted lever may be used for returning the lever 8 to the position shown in Fig. 5. The usual spring 17 is employed for acting on the swell 16.
