Weft-replenishing mechanism. - In looms having two drop-boxes at one end, weft-feeler mechanism, comprising an upper feeler 9 carried by an arm 13 fixed to a stud 13<1> and a lower feeler 10 carried by an arm 20 fixed to a stud 19 carried by a bracket 19<1>, is arranged so as to feel on the weft in the inactive shuttle, when two shuttles are in use. An arm 18 fixed to the stud 19 is connected by a link 21 to an arm 22 on a spring-controlled stud carrying a plate 26, a pin 17 on the arm 18 engaging a slotted arm 16 on the stud 13, so that both feelers control the plate 26. When the lower shnttle box and shuttle 12 are moved to the level of the raceway, the weft on the shuttle 11 engages the feeler 9, thereby rocking the arms 13, 16, 18, 26 against the action of the spring unless the shuttle is substantially exhausted. When the latter is the case, the arm 26 remains in position to engage, when the lay beats - up, with a transmitting latch - lever 5 pivoted on the breast beam, whereby the rockshaft 8 of the replenishing-mechanism is actuated. When the upper shuttle box and shuttle 11 are moved to the level of the raceway, the lower feeler coacts in a similar manner with the weft in the shuttle 12. When weaving with one shuttle only, the upper feeler is lengthened or adjusted to coact with the shuttle in the upper shuttle box, which is maintained on a level with the raceway, and, by means of cam-andlever mechanism connected by a spring 29 to an arm 27 fast to the stud 18, the feeler is moved into contact with the weft at every other pick and is moved clear of the shuttle before it is picked.
