Abstract

23,372. Jackson, S. S. Nov. 2. Loom weft-replenishing mechanism ; stop-motions. -In differential weft - supply gauging - devices having two contact members, which are acted upon by the weft on the bobbin and a fixed part respectively as the lay beats up, one member 30, Fig. 2, is acted upon by the weft through the intermediary of a feeler 32 and the other member 31 is acted upon by a piece 34, which bears on the bobbin head or the rings thereon, and the member 31 carries a latch 50, which is normally raised by a detent 49 adjustably secured on the member 30 by a screw 51 and an elongated slot. As the weft becomes exhausted, the member 30 is forced back by the yarn on the bobbin to a less extent than the member 31, and at a certain point, varied by adjusting the detent 49 on the members 30, the detent moves from underneath the latch and allows it to fall. The latch has a slot by means of which it depresses a pin 60 secured to an arm 58 on a shaft 56, Figs. 2 and 4, which is thereby rocked, and a pin 62 on a lever 61 on the shaft allows a dog 63 on an arm 64 to fall into position to be engaged by a shoulder 66 on the weft-fork hammer 13. The arm 64 operates an arm 21 on the knock-off shaft 20, which operates the sbipper handle by means of a projection. A hook 67 on the dog 63 engages the pin 62 during the latter part of the movement of the weft-fork hammer and turns back the parts 61, 56, 58 to normal position, the latch being replaced on the detent and the dog 63 disengaged from the shoulder on the weft-fork hammer. The members 30, 31 are pressed towards the bobbin by springs surrounding their spindles 41 and bearing against a forward extension 42 of a support, their movement being limited by adjustable stop-collars 44 on the spindles 41, which pass through guide-eyes in the extension 42. The support is adjustable from front to rear and is fitted to ways on a stand 36 which is transversely adjustable, so that the contacts may be properly located with respect to the feeler 32 and piece 34. The gauging-device may be used in connexion with weft - replenishing mechanism.
