Abstract

4650. Robinson, J., and Holmes, F. March 6. Loom stop-motions.-Relates to means for putting out of action the usual stop-motion protector finger d, which normally stops the loom when the shuttle is absent, so that, on breakage of a thread, the weaver may turn back the pattern and weave over without a shuttle, one hand being on the shipper and the other on the lay, and the loom being stopped after each pick until the broken pick is found. For this purpose, a treadle i, Fig. 2, is depressed so as to pull down a lever j against the action of a spring l. A roll m thus acts on a lever h so as to depress the dagger f and prevent it from acting on the knock-off mechanism g. The rod j is guided in a clip k, and its upward movement is limited by a lug working in a slot. When the shuttle binder e is at the back of the shuttle box, as shown in Fig. 6, the dagger f<1> is raised out of contact with the knock-off mechanism g<1> on depression of the treadle i, the weight of the parts keeping the rod j normally depressed. On the treadle being depressed, the shuttle may also be more readily placed in the shuttle box.
