Abstract

25,755. Jones, H. Sefton-, [Soc. Anon. des MÚtiers Gabler]. Nov. 14. Loom shuttles, changing bobbins in, automatically. -Relates to weft-feeler mechanism of the type described in Specification No. 882, A.D. 1903, whereby bobbin-changing mechanism is brought into operation when the weft in the shuttle is exhausted to a predetermined extent. A feeler, comprising a plate a with spring prongs c, is slidably mounted on the breast beam and is pressed towards the lay by a spring. The distance between the prongs c is regulated by a micrometer screw d, and the feeler is normally pressed forwards by the action of the cop f<1> on the prongs c as the lay beats up. A finger i on a rocking wire m rests on an incline on the feeler, and is raised as the feeler is pressed forwards. A lever on the other end of the wire m raises another lever on a pin n<2>, which is supported in a bearing o on a lever q fixed to a rock-shaft r. A catch p on the pin n<2> is thereby raised out of the path of the ordinary hammer s. When the weft is sufficiently exhausted, the spool passes between the prongs c, the feeler is not pressed forwards, and the catch p engages the hammer, so that the shaft r is rocked. A lever V on the shaft r is raised and acts through a spring Z to raise a pivoted lever W, a pin X on this lever raising a pivoted lever u, which effects the change of bobbin by means of suitable mechanism.
