Abstract
22,804. Turner, A. Oct. 15. Loom stop-motions ; float detectors.-Warp stopmotion mechanism, particularly applicable for smallware looms, comprises a pivoted arm 1, which enters the shed each time it is formed and is withdrawn before the shed is changed unless it is arrested within the shed by an entanglement due to the breakage of one or more of the warps 2<a>, whereupon it operates through any suitable intermediate mechanism to stop the loom. The arm 1 may he mounted loosely upon a vertical spindle 3, which is rocked by a cord 12 passing round a pulley 11 on the spindle and connected at one end to an oscillating lever, which may actuate the weft-spool carrier, and at the other end by a spring 13. The arm is moved by the spindle by frictional means, or by projections and recesses on the underside of an enlarged part 6 of the arm engaging corresponding recesses and projections on a collar on the spindle under the influence of a weak spring, so that normally the arm moves backwards and forwards through a half circle. If the arm is stopped within the shed, the part 6 stops between lower and upper pivoted jaws 19, and the lower jaw is raised by an eccentric and moves the part 6 against the upper jaw, which is thereby raised and acts through a rod to remove a catch from a clutch-lever to stop the loom.
