Weft, cutting.-In temple weft-cutting devices, a lever 27 mounted on a screw 28 secured to an extension 18<2> on the movable hooked cutter 18 is acted upon by a spring 29 secured to the temple-bar 14, and is thereby normally held in the path of a projection on the lay, whereby the cutter 18 is normally moved towards the breast beam at each beat-up, so that any weft extending from the selvedge may be cut, between the cutter 18 and the fixed cutter 17. When weftreplenishment occurs, the lever 27 is moved out of the path of the lay projection into the path of a side extension 34<2> on a lever 34 operated through a connector 35 from a cam on the bottom shaft or by connexions with the lay or other mechanism which rocks the lever 34 once at every other pick, the movement of the cutter being thus delayed to enable the loose weft end to be first beaten up and carried into position beneath the cutter 18, before this is moved. When replenishment is to occur, a feeleroperated spring-controlled pin 7 guided in an arm or side extension 5<3> on a vertically-movable plate 5 connected to the transferrer arm 4 is moved into the path of a cam-actuated rod 6. The plate 5 is thereby raised, and a lever 21 engaging beneath an enlarged part 5<2> of the. plate 5 is rocked by a spring 22. A rod 25 connected to the lever 21 then moves the lever 27 out of the path of the lay projection and into the path of the lever 34.
