Abstract

1428098 Sailing boats R DOEPNER 2 July 1974 [7 July 1973] 29265/74 Heading B7V A sailing boat has a boom 5 pivoted in a bearing 7 about a vertical axis. A mast 3 is mounted on the boom to pivot in the plane of the boom, and a sail 1 is fixed to the boom and has a pocket in the luff through which the mast passes. The mast is stayed by a rope 17, and the tautness of the sail is controlled by the tension in an adjustable spring 14, which acts through block and tackle 13.
