Abstract
A sailing boat that has a pivotally mounted mast 12. Control wires 16 are fixed to the mast 12 and are designed to hold this in a vertical position with a predetermined pre-tensioning force. The control wires 16 are fixed to hydraulically acting piston and cylinder units 18, which are part of a hydraulic system 18, 22, 24, 26. The hydraulic system is designed to adjust the position of a weight 30, which can be moved in a direction transversely to the hull 28 of the boat 10. When the wind acts on the sail of the sailing boat 10, the control wire 16 acts on the hydraulic system, by means of which the weights 30 will be moved to a predetermined position, in which they generate a torque, which compensates for the effects of the wind, as a result of which the hull 28 will remain in a horizontal position. <IMAGE>
