Abstract
1410732 Low expansion alloy INTERNATIONAL NICKEL Ltd 3 May 1974 [4 May 1973(2) 4 March 1974] 21186/73 21188/73 and 9641/74 Heading C7A A shaped casting of predominantly austenitic structure and composition;-- The casting may be prepared by air melting and casting or vacuum melting and casting in which the Lanthanum and Lanthanides are added in the form of mischmetal and may be age hardened either in the as cast or solution treated form by heating at 500-900‹C for 1 to 24 hours. The age hardened material may have an expansion coefficient not greater than 6À5 X 10<SP>-6</SP>/‹C over the range 20 to 350‹C and a 0À2% proof stress at 500‹C greater than 200 N/mm<SP>2</SP> and may be used in rotating and reciprocating machinery operating at elevated temperature e.g. turbine blades and shafts.
