Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an alloy having high temperature strength and low coefficient of thermal expansion at high temperatures by adding specific elements to the major composition consisting of Invar alloy applying cold processing and then aging.
CONSTITUTION: Ni-Fe bases alloy ingot including C<0.50%, Ni: 39W50%, and 1.0W5.0% of the sum of one or more of metals selected from Si, Mn and Cr is applyed solution heat treatment and cold processed to surface reduction of 50% or more. Alternatively, to the alloy of above composition, 1.0W4.5% of the sum of one or more of metals selected from Ti, Al, and Nb is added, and after cold processing, is treated with a low temperature ageing at 500°C or less. Here, Ni-Fe based alloy for precision instrument use, having tensile strength 100kg/mm2 or more at room temperature, thermal expantion coefficient 10×10-6/°C or less at 200W 300°C is obtained.
