Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled cast steel free from cracking in casting by adding C, Si, Mn, Ni, Mo and W to Fe in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: This cast steel consists of 0.01W0.10% C, ≤0.15% Si, ≤0.90% Mn, 8.5W12.0% Ni, 0.15W0.50% Mo and/or W, and the balance Fe and impurities including ≤0.015% P and ≤0.005% S. 0.005W0.020% Mg or ≥1/2 time as much Ca as S may be added to the said composition. In order to provide predetermined mechanical properties a casting of this steel is uniformly heated to about 800W925°C and water- or air-cooled. It is then heated at about 560W640°C and tempered by water-or air-cooling.
