Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the hot workability and oxidation resistance of an austenite steel by adding a specified amount of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Al, B, a rare earth element and Ca to the steel.
CONSTITUTION: To an austenite steel are added, by wt., <0.2% C, 1.5W3.5% Si, <2% Mn, 8W35% Ni, 15W30% Cr, <2% Al, 0.0005W0.005% B, a 0.005W0.1% rare earth element and 0.0005W0.02% Ca or further added 0.0005W0.03% Mg as required. The resulting austenite steel is refined in an ordinary steel making furnace, and this molten steel is formed into a billet, which is then hot rolled.
