Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled steel by a method wherein steel containing a specific component composition such as C, Mn or the like as a basic component and containing a specfic amount of N, Al and Si+Al as well as comprising a balance of Fe is subjected to melt treatment and rolling or the like, thereafter cooled to a specific temperature and, subsequently heat treatment is carried out.
CONSTITUTION: A steel which contains C; 0.05W0.3%, Mn; 0.02W2%, Cr; 0.02W 1%, Mo; 0.02W2%, Ni; 0.02W10% as basic components and comprises a balance of Fe and of which N content is adjusted to 20W300ppm, an excessive Al content [sol. Al-2(N-0.3Ti)] is adjusted to -1W0.2% and Si+Al is adjusted to ≤ 0.2% is subjected to melt treatment and rolling or forging is carried out. Subsequently, an obtained steel is cooled to below a temperature which forms solid solution containing Al and N within a steel in a super-saturated condition and, thereafter, heat treatment is carried out. Thereby, Al and N are effectively bound as well as transformation texture is improved and a normalized steel with excellent low temperature toughness is obtained.
