Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the hardness and toughness of wear resistant steel at high temps. by specifying the contents of the alloying elements such as C, Si, Mn, Cr, Nb, and Al in the steel.
CONSTITUTION: The contents of the alloying elements in steel are specified as follows: C 0.40W0.60wt%, Si 0.80W1.70%, Mn 0.40W0.80%, Cr 0.60W2.00%, Nb 0.20W1.00%, Al 0.20W1.00%, and the balance Fe and accompanying impurities. By this compsn. a lowering in wear resistance of the steel at about 450°C or above is improved, and a high toughness is provided. Such satisfying properties are obtd. by carrying out hot rolling, diffusion annealing at a temp. about 150°C above the Ac3 transformation temp. of the steel, austenitizing at a temp. about 50W60°C above the Ac3 transformation temp., oil hardening, tempering, etc. after ingot making.
